Former Tumkur University VC takes charge as NAAC Director

NEW DELHI, MAY 31: Former Tumkur University Vice-Chancellor Prof S C Sharma has taken over as the new Director of National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Prof. Sharma took charge from Dr. Latha Pillai, Adviser, NAAC, he has been appointed to the post for five years.

Prof. Sharma has about 30 years of rich professional experience as educationist, researcher and as an administrator. He has served as the VC of Tumkur University; Vice Chairman, Karnataka State Council for Higher Education and also VC of Swami Vivekananda Chhattisgarh Technological University.

The term of previous Director, Prof. D P Singh ended in December last year who was later appointed as the Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Sharma was selected from the list of eight candidates shortlisted by the selection committee Constituted by the UGC.

He has ten doctoral conferments and has done Doctor of Law (LLD) from the National Law School of India University, Bangalore and has also obtained LLB from Bangalore University.

As per the release issued by NAAC, He has published more than 300 research papers in international refereed journals and has delivered keynote addresses in international conferences. He has presented 375 research articles and has a number of citations.
