GATE 2021: Dress code to be followed by candidates at exam centres, other details

NEW DELHI: IIT Bombay will begin the GATE 2021 exam on February 6. GATE 2021 exam dates are February 6, 7, 13 and 14, 2021. The exam will be conducted in two shifts each day for different GATE subject papers.

Candidates going to appear for the GATE 2021 exam must be aware of the important exam day guidelines and dress code to be followed at the exam centre. Candidates can check the GATE exam day guidelines here.

GATE 2021 dress code

• Candidates must not wear any cloth consisting of metallic items.

• Candidates are not allowed to wear a cap/ muffler.

• Students must wear light-weight comfortable clothes to avoid discomfort during writing the exam.

• Wearing any kind of jewelry or ornaments is strictly prohibited

• Candidates are not allowed to wear watches, goggles, rings, bracelets, or any of such items.

• Carrying wallets or any pouch is also not allowed.

GATE 2021- Things to carry to the exam centre

• Candidates must carry a GATE 2021 admit card along with a valid Photo Id proof to the exam centres.

• A valid Id proof can be-a Passport, PAN card, Aadhaar Card, College ID, Employee ID, Driving License, etc.

• Candidates can carry a pen, pencil, transparent water bottle, and transparent pocket size hand sanitizer.

GATE 2021- COVID-19 guidelines

• Candidates have to follow all COVID-19 norms at the GATE exam centres.

• Candidates must wear face masks to the GATE 2021 exam centres. Candidates will not be allowed to enter the centre without a proper face mask.

• Candidates having a temperature above 99.4 degrees Fahrenheit will be taken to the isolation area.

• Candidates positive to COVID-19 will not be allowed to appear for the exam.

Other than these guidelines, candidates should reach their allotted GATE 2021 exam centres 60 minutes before the commencement of exam.

On day 1 of the GATE 2021 exam; three subject papers- Civil Engineering-1 (CE-1), Instrumentation Engineering (IN), and Chemistry (CY) will be conducted. GATE February 6 Shift 2 exam will be conducted for 5 subject papers- Civil Engineering-2, Physics, Architecture, and Planning, Biomedical Engineering, Mining Engineering.
