NEW DELHI: The Graduate Aptitude Test of Engineering (GATE) 2021 exam begins today. The first day of the four-day long GATE 2021 exam has papers of Civil Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering and Chemistry. GATE 2021 will be conducted for a total of 27 subjects on February 6, 7, 13 and 14. Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay, the organising institute of GATE 2021, has set up exam centres in 200 cities across the country for conducting the exam.

As the exam is being conducted amid the coronavirus pandemic, IIT Bombay has issued special COVID-19 instructions for the smooth conduct of the exam. The exam day instructions were released through a video on the official website gate.iitb.ac.in. Every candidate appearing in the exam has to follow these instructions at the exam centre.

Candidates must avoid crowding at the exam centre. It is advised to reach the exam centre as per the time mentioned on their admit card.
Candidates must maintain social distancing
Exam centres will have rope queues and floor marks which candidates have to follow while standing in a queue outside the gate
The body temperature of every candidate will be checked using thermo guns at the entry gate. Candidates with body temperature more than 99.4-degrees Fahrenheit will be seated in an isolation room.
Candidates will be allowed to carry masks, gloves, hand sanitizer, a pen or pencil, transparent water bottles, ID proof and admit card.
Detailed instructions and COVID-19 specific guidelines for candidates are also printed on the hall tickets of candidates. GATE hall ticket 2021 is available for download on the website appsgate.iitb.ac.in.
