NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) will conduct the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE 2025) exam from today, February 1 to February 16, 2025, at different exam centres. The exam will be held in two shifts: the forenoon session from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and the afternoon shift from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. GATE Exam 2025 Live Updates

Candidates appearing for the GATE must carry their admit card mandatorily to the exam centre. Candidates must reach the GATE 2025 exam centre at least one hour before the exam begins.

Candidates will be allowed to log in 20 minutes before the exam begins and read the exam instructions before the exam begins. Candidates are advised to carry their pen, pencil, transparent water bottle, pocket-size face mask and hand sanitiser to the exam centre.

The exam centre will provide scribble pads for rough work to the students. However, candidates will have to return the scribble pad after their exam is over.

Candidates are allowed only to carry their GATE 2025 admit card, original photo ID proof, face mask, pen, pencil, transparent water bottle and pocket-size hand sanitiser to GATE 2025 exam centre.

GATE 2025 exam day guidelines

Candidates can read below some important guidelines and tips to ace their GATE 2025 exam.

  • Candidates must quickly scan the question paper so they can gauge how to crack it.

  • Start your exam by clicking on the section you wish to attempt first.

  • As per topper’s suggestion starting with the GA and engineering Maths sections are easy and scoring ones.

  • The GATE 2025 marking scheme follows negative marking, so it is advisable to avoid answering questions that you are not sure about.

  • Avoid wasting time on questions that you do not know the answers and answer them later when you have time.

  • It is advisable to answer the questions first that can give you a score. This will also build your confidence to move forward.

  • Students find the one-mark questions to be easier to answer as compared to the two-mark questions, which require analysis and deduction. You can answer one-mark-based questions first to save time.

  • Answer those questions that you know the answers to so that you build a score as you go. This will build your confidence before you move to the hard ones.

  • It is crucial to remember and save each answer before you move to the next question or else they will be lost and you won’t have time to redo them.
