NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has conducted Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2025 Day 1 exam in two shifts. The duration of the GATE exam 2025 was three hours. As per the GATE 2025 Feb 1 overall analysis, the difficulty level was moderate. Various coaching centres will also publish GATE question paper 2025 for February 1 based on memory-based questions shared by candidates.

As per candidates, the GATE 2025 Feb 1 shift 1 paper was 'easy to moderate'. The GATE 2025 Feb 1 paper was not lengthy and manageable, as per candidates who appeared for the paper. Several candidates also said that few GATE 2025 Feb 1 exam questions were from previous year question papers (PYQs).
In the latest update, IITR has moved GATE exam centres 2025 from Prayagraj to Lucknow after receiving representations from candidates expressing difficulty in reaching the centre due to Mahakumbh Mela 2025.
GATE exam 2025 is being conducted on February 1, 2, 15, and 16 for admission to master’s programmes offered by IITs and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore. GATE 2025 scores will also be used by the Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) for recruitment.
GATE 2025 will be held in a computer-based test mode for 30 papers. As per GATE 2025 exam pattern, each paper will carry a total of 100 marks. All the test papers will contain a General Aptitude (GA) section of 15 marks and the chosen subject of 85 marks.
Aspirants can download the GATE admit card 2025 from the official website, gate2025.iitr.ac.in. It is mandatory to carry the admit card along with a photo ID proof to the exam hall.
Personal calculators, watches, wallets, mobile phones, bluetooth devices, electronic or communication devices, books, charts, tables, loose sheets, papers, data, handbooks, pouches or boxes are not permitted inside the examination hall.

The GATE 2025 question paper will have three types of questions- Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), Multiple Select Questions (MSQ), and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions. There will be no negative marking for wrong answer in MSQ and NAT. However, for 1-mark MCQ, 1/3 mark will be deducted for wrong answer. In case of 2-mark MCQ, 2/3 mark will be deducted for each incorrect response.

The GATE 2025 CS paper on Feb 1 consisted of a total of 65 questions, including 22 numerical answer type (NAT), 30 multiple-choice questions (MCQ), and 13 multiple select questions (MSQ).

The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) are launching new multi-disciplinary and industry-oriented MTech programmes, as the postgraduate degree has been losing its popularity in the engineering colleges. Over the last two years, the institutes have introduced new courses in artificial intelligence, date science, electic vehicles, advanced materials, nanotechnology, drinking water, and sanitation.

While talking to Careers360, a GATE 2025 aspirant shared that she's studying in third year and this is her attempt. About her strategy for exam, she said that she will attempt only those questions she knows the answers to and would leave the rest. Another candidate, who's working, said she will attempt easy questions first and then move on to the difficult questions.
