For GATE 2026, IIT Guwahati has introduced a new Energy Science sectional paper under the Engineering Sciences (XE) category, offering aspirants greater flexibility in choosing their optional subjects. Candidates can select any two papers from eight sections, including Fluid Mechanics, Materials Science, Solid Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Polymer Science, Food Technology, Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, and Energy Science.
