GCET Cancelled: Goa engineering, pharmacy admission through JEE Main, NEET 2024

NEW DELHI: Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) Goa has decided to cancel the Goa Common Entrance Test (GCET) for admission to engineering and pharmacy courses. From the academic year 2024-25, the DTE will grant admission to BTech and BPharm, professional courses through Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main 2024) or National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET UG 2024).

Earlier, the DTE used to administer the GCET exam and centralised counselling process for admission to engineering and pharmacy courses offered by the colleges in Goa. However, this year, “Admissions to Engineering B.E. Degree courses in the State of Goa in the year 2024-25 shall be carried out on the basis of Score/Rank at Joint Entrance Exam (JEE-Main)-2024 to be conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) in January 2024 and April 2024,” the official notification read.

Admissions to pharmacy or BPharm courses in Goa will be based on the best aggregate score in physics and chemistry subjects secured in JEE Main 2024 or NEET 2024.

Aspirants who wish to take admissions to BPharm course will have an option to choose JEE Main 2024, NEET 2024, or both.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has started the JEE Main registration 2024. The last to submit the application form on the official website, jeemain.nta.ac.in is November 30. JEE Main 2024 January session 1 will be held from January 24 to February 1 and session 2 from April 1 to 15.

The NTA announced the NEET 2024 exam date along with the JEE Main exam 2024. As per the exam calendar, the single-largest medical entrance exam will be held on May 5, 2024.
