Great Lakes Institute of Management Gurgaon secures AACSB accreditation, joining 15 Indian B-schools with AMBA and AACSB recognition

The Great Lakes Institute of Management, Gurgaon, has been awarded accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), a US-based body that recognises excellence in business education worldwide. The institute becomes one of just 15 business schools in India to hold accreditations from both AACSB and the Association of MBAs (AMBA) UK — a distinction often referred to as the “double crown”.
The announcement was made during a ceremony held at the institute’s Gurgaon campus. Prathap Das, South Asia Head at AACSB, presented the official accreditation certificate to the institute’s leadership team.
The AACSB recognition is expected to enhance the institute’s global reputation and open up new opportunities for its academic community. For students, the accreditation adds international credibility to their degree, making it easier to explore career prospects abroad or pursue further studies globally.

Faculty members are also likely to benefit through greater access to global research collaborations, international conferences and a stronger academic network. For recruiters and corporate partners, the double crown status reflects the institute’s strong academic standards, infrastructure and industry-aligned curriculum.
Speaking at the event, Das said the AACSB accreditation marks an important step in the institute’s journey. He noted that achieving AACSB recognition requires sustained commitment to quality education, research and institutional development.
“As India continues to strengthen its presence in global management education, institutions like Great Lakes play a key role in preparing responsible and capable business leaders,” he said.
Before receiving the accreditation, the institute underwent a detailed assessment process designed to measure its alignment with AACSB’s global standards. This included reviews of curriculum design, research output, faculty expertise and student outcomes.
The final stage involved an on-site evaluation conducted by deans and senior representatives from leading international business schools.

Jones Mathew, principal of the institute, described the recognition as a proud moment for the entire Great Lakes community. He said the achievement reflects the collective efforts of faculty, staff, students, alumni and industry partners who have supported the institute’s pursuit of academic excellence.
“This is a collaborative effort of a team of committed faculty, staff, students, alumni and recruiters who have supported us in our quest for quality in management education over the years. The AACSB process has been a significant value addition to our pursuit of excellence. This is an important milestone in the school’s journey but there’s no intent to rest on our most recent laurel,” he added.
