NEW DELHI: Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar today announced that the government will bear the cost of college education for girl students whose annual family income is equal to or less than Rs 1,80,000.
The government will also pay half the fee for college education of girls students with annual family income between Rs 1,80,000 and Rs 3,00,000. The order will be applicable at all private and government colleges, the CM said.

In a similar statement Last year, Khattar had announced that the state government will provide free education to girl students whose annual family income is up to Rs 1.8 lakh.
This month the chief minister had also announced the ‘Chatra Parivahan Suraksha’ scheme under which free transportation services will be provided to school students residing in the rural areas.

Addressing a gathering on November 5 at Ratangarh village in Karnal district, Khattar had announced that the transport department will provide bus services to villages with more than 50 students attending faraway schools. The department will also provide minibuses to those having 30 to 40 such students.
“For villages where the student count attending far-flung schools falls between five and 10, the education department will step in to provide necessary transportation support,” he added. As per an official statement, the Chatra Parivahan Suraksha Yojana started from Ratangarh village on November 6.
