Haryana Education Department has declared a holiday on October 27 in all schools of the state for Bhai Dooj. Schools will also remain closed on Diwali.

NEW DELHI: The Directorate of School Education, Haryana has declared holiday for all government, government-aided and private schools in the state on October 27 on the occasion of ‘Bhai Dooj’.
In a letter issued by Kuldeep Mehta, assistant director (Academic) stated that schools will remain closed on October 27 on the occasion of 'Bhai Dooj'.
The DSE Haryana on its official Twitter handle said, "The Haryana Education Department has declared a holiday on October 27, 2022, in all the government, private and aided schools of the state on the occasion of Bhai Dooj. In this regard, instructions have been given to all the District Education Officers and District Elementary Education Officers of the state."

Bhai Dooj is also called as Bhaubeej, Bhai Tika, Bhai Phonta or Bhratri Dwitiya. It is a festival celebrated by Hindus on the second lunar day of Shukla Paksha (bright fortnight) in the Vikram Samvat Hindu calendar.
The festival is celebrated during the Diwali or Tihar festival and Holi festival. The celebrations of this day are similar to the festival of Raksha Bandhan, where brothers give gifts to their sisters.Schools will also be closed on October 24 on the occasion of Diwali.
