NEW DELHI: The Haryana government has decided to reopen schools for Classes 10, 11, and 12 from February 1, education minister Kanwar Pal announced on social media.
“The Haryana government has decided to open schools for classes 10th, 11th and 12th from February 1, 2022,” the minister tweeted.

Pal on Monday said no decision has been taken on reopening schools, colleges in Haryana. He, however, said that the state government is planning to reopen schools with 33% capacity on different days.

On January 10, the Haryana government decided to shut schools, colleges in the state in view of a sudden spike in Covid-19, Omicron cases in India. Pal said all schools are instructed to shut schools, colleges till January 26, 2022.
He further said that online teaching will continue for students. Schools and colleges were also instructed to take necessary action and prepare for the upcoming examination.

Meanwhile, the Haryana government has decided to hold mandatory board exams for Classes 5 and 8 in all schools in the state from this academic year. The cabinet passed an amendment to the Haryana Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Rules, 2011 and added new rules, which will be effective immediately.
Pal said, “Taking important decisions in the field of education, Haryana Government has implemented the 5th and 8th board exams in the state. This historic decision will lead to high level reforms in the education system.”

It further said that the Haryana Class 5 and 8 board exam results should be declared within a month after the exam.
