Heavy rains hit normal life; these states announce closure of schools, colleges tomorrow

For the safety of students, teaching and non-teaching staff, state governments have instructed schools to close them in view of rains.

NEW DELHI: Heavy rains in several parts of north India threw normal life out of gear including in Delhi, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh. Schools including in Delhi and Gurugram have been ordered shut in view of heavy downpours tomorrow, July 10.

For the safety of the students, teaching and the non-teaching staff, state governments have instructed the school authorities to close the schools.

Here’s a list of states, cities closing schools tomorrow

Delhi: Several parts of Delhi received heavy rains since Saturday, July 8. On Saturday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast high-intensity rain for the next two to three days in Delhi. Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has announced a holiday for all schools tomorrow, July 10, in view of heavy rains. State government, private and semi government-aided schools in Delhi will remain closed tomorrow. A flood warning has also been given to Delhi after Haryana discharged over one lakh cusecs of water into Yamuna, PTI said.

Haryana: Heavy rainfall leading to waterlogging and traffic congestion Haryana’s Gurugram has made the administration advise schools to announce a holiday tomorrow.

Himachal Pradesh: Considering heavy rainfall in several parts of Himachal Pradesh, the government has closed all the educational institutions -- government schools and colleges for two days, July 10 and 11. In an office order, Director of the Higher Education Department Amarjeet Sharma said that the schools affiliated with ICSE, CBSE, and other boards can take decisions regarding closing schools at their own level.

Uttar Pradesh: In view of the heavy rains in Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Buddha district, educational institutions including schools and colleges from Class 1 to Class 12 of all the boards of the district will remain closed tomorrow, July 10.
