HRD Minister launches Odisha university’s helpline for students

NEW DELHI: Union Minister of Human Resource Development, Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ has launched a helpline number started by the Central University of Odisha (CUO) to help students who are under mental stress due to the ongoing coronavirus lockdown. As per the ministry the helpline aims at providing cognitive-emotional rehabilitation services to all university students of Odisha.

The central university has launched a state-wide helpline number which can be accessed by students from anywhere in Odisha.

Union HRD Minister tweeted: “To overcome the mental stress of the students, I welcome the launch of a helpline called ‘Bharosa’ by the Odisha Central University by selecting qualified mental health experts. Today we are very happy to enter the trust helpline number 08046801010.”

Bharosa will provide mental and psychological assistance to university and college students of Odisha.

Speaking on the occasion, Pokhriyal asserted that the mental health concern of the students is of great importance and the helpline launched by CUO is a great step towards that. As per a release issued by the ministry helpline will benefit the students and their parents, amongst others.

The Vice-Chancellor of CUO, I Ramabrahmam highlighted the major features and services of the CUOs Helpline ‘Bharosa’ that seeks to address the problems of distressed students in the wake of COVID-19. He stated that ‘Bharosa’ will address the concerns of any student of any University in Odisha and added that over 400 calls have been received in the pilot phase of the CUO Helpline. This should be in the second para. After the statewise line sentence. Please introduce the vc there and say that in its pilot phase, the helpline received over 400 calls.
