The Indian Council of Philosophical Research (ICPR) has announced its Fellowship Programme for 2026, with the last date for online submission set for January 15, and the hard copy submission deadline on January 21, at 11:59 pm. Online applications are to be submitted through the official portal icpr.rdisl.com.

The programme provides opportunities for scholars, especially young researchers to engage full-time in research projects.

The fellowships support research across major philosophical domains such as truth and knowledge, ethics and aesthetics, culture and national reconstruction, science and technology, social and political philosophy, law, environment, logic and language, metaphysics, education and philosophy of social sciences.

ICPR fellowship categories, stipend amounts, age eligibility

The programme offers four categories of fellowships for scholars at different academic stages.

Under the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) category, full-time registered PhD scholars will receive Rs 17,600 per month (consolidated) along with a contingency grant of Rs 16,500 per annum.

The upper age limit for JRF is 40 years, with a relaxation of five years for SC, ST and PwD candidates.

The General / Post-Doctoral Fellowship (PDF) is meant for researchers who have completed their PhD and demonstrated academic promise.

Fellows will receive Rs 30,800 per month and a contingency grant of Rs 22,000 per annum, with pay-protection benefits where applicable.

The maximum age limit for PDF is 50 years, with relaxation for reserved categories.

The Senior Fellowship (SF) is intended for established scholars with significant publications, offering Rs 44,000 per month and a contingency grant of Rs 44,000 per annum, normally for a two-year tenure.

The National Fellowship (NF) is awarded through nomination to eminent scholars, with fellows receiving Rs 60,500 per month and a contingency grant of Rs 66,000 per annum, typically for two years.

The online application fee is Rs 500 for General,OBC candidates and Rs 200 for SC,ST,PwD candidates.
