ICT Mumbai's second-year BTech student, Siddhesh Patil, a native of Nashik, was being treated for depression, police said

A second-year engineering student of the government-run Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT) allegedly died by suicide inside his hostel room in central Mumbai. BTech student Siddhesh Patil, a native of Nashik, was being treated for depression, police said.
According to investigators, the 19-year-old student had messaged his psychiatrist last night about experiencing "suicidal ideation".
Upon receiving the message, the doctor immediately informed Patil's family members, who in turn urged his hostel friends to check on him. However, before his friends could reach his room, Patil had allegedly died by suicide by hanging himself.

Police said the incident took place at around 10:30 pm. An Accidental Death Report (ADR) has been registered at Matunga police station, an official said, adding that police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident to determine the exact sequence of events.
Students present at the scene attempted to revive him by performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) before rushing him to Sion Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
