IGNOU launched the MA and MS courses on World Youth Skills Day 2021.

NEW DELHI: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has launched two new postgraduate programmes -- Master of Science (MS) in Information Security and Master of Arts (MA) in Entrepreneurship. The programmes were launched by Nageshwar Rao, Vice-Chancellor on the occasion of World Youth Skills Day on July 15.
The last day to apply to these programmes is July 31, 2021.
The eligibility for Masters of Science (Information Security) and Master of Arts (Entrepreneurship) is a bachelor’s degree in any discipline or its equivalent from a recognized university. The minimum and maximum duration for these programmes is 2 years and 4 years, respectively.
Information security is a major concern in today’s digital world where every kind of data is stored online and has a huge commercial value. Master of Science (MS) in Information Security aims to help students build cyber security skills to avoid threats to such important data, support the ecosystem, and drive growth in Indian economy.
“The broad objective of the programme is to prepare graduate students for productive courses in information security by providing an outstanding environment for teaching and research in core areas of the discipline. The programme aims to (a) provide protection and security to personal data and to build data-oriented infrastructure in the workplace; (b) raise high professional ethics in the individuals towards providing information security; and (c) experiment and learn the skills and techniques needed for providing protection and security to our information,” said a statement.
On the other hand, the Master of Arts (MA) in Entrepreneurship aims to help students hone their entrepreneurial skills and start their own business. The programme will emphasize on “aspects of startup, innovation and soft skills” to aid learners become successful entrepreneurs.
“The objective of the programme is to (a) develop competencies among graduates in initiating business enterprise; (b) facilitates successful and profitable operations of the enterprise; (c) enable managerial skills for setting up of new enterprise; and (d) develop interpersonal skills and adopt good leadership behavior for empowerment of self and others,” further said the statement.
