IGNOU sets new limit on maximum period of academic programmes
NEW DELHI: Indira Gandhi National Open University has reduced the maximum duration of completing Post Graduate programme by one year. IGNOU students have to now finish their postgraduate programme within the maximum duration of four years. The maximum duration of finishing a postgraduate course earlier was five years.
IGNOU has also put a limit on the maximum duration of Certificate, Diploma and PG Diploma programmes. For all the Diploma and Postgraduate Diploma programmes, the maximum duration of completing the programme is confined to three years. Students who are enrolled in a Certificate programme have to complete their course within a maximum duration of two years.
The matter was discussed in the 74th academic council meeting which was held on July 20. It must be noted that this development will not be applicable for the old students of IGNOU.
There is no change in the maximum duration of completing undergraduate programmes. The minimum duration to complete UG programme is three years and the maximum duration is six years.
In the first week of October, the varsity has decided to withdraw the readmission scheme and hence there is no provision of re-admission for any candidate whose course is completing within June TEE 2021.
