IICT gets new campus in Mumbai; plans animation, VFX, XR courses from September 2025

IICT to launch courses for September 2025 batch; plans to have 300 students.
A new campus of the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT) at Mumbai was jointly inaugurated by Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, and Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, at the NFDC Films Division Complex, Pedder Road.
The IICT, Mumbai plans to roll out advanced programmes in integrated media post-production, animation , VFX, and extended reality (XR). The IICT campus has “world-class” infrastructure with well-equipped classrooms, media labs, and post-production suites. The campus offers designated spaces for animation, VFX and XR training.
The creative institute of India aims to provide a “state-of-the-art” learning environment, blending “academic expertise” with industry collaboration opportunities to develop creative excellence, said an official statement.
It was announced that the institute will launch its academic programmes from September 2025. The official logo of IICT India was revealed by the dignitaries, who included Sanjay Jaju, secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, and Ashish Shelar, Minister of Cultural Affairs Department, Government of Maharashtra .

Indian Institute of Creative Technologies: Inauguration
Speaking about the new IICT, Vaishnaw said: “In this creative world, technology has become an integral part and it is important that we empower people who want to be part of the creator economy. I am glad that in such a short span we have inaugurated the first NFDC IICT campus in Mumbai. I have personally gone through the architectural presentations in detail for the campus in Filmcity, Goregaon, and I assure you it is going to be one of the finest campuses.”
A second campus of IICT is expected to be established at Filmcity, Goregaon for enhanced training opportunities in the field of animation, visual effects, gaming, comics (AVGC) and XR. At the NFDC campus of IICT, it is expected that around 300 students will join the inaugural batch.
Commenting at the IICT inauguration, Fadnavis remarked that, “This is not just an event; it is a moment - a moment that is now transforming into a movement.” He added that the IICT will emerge as an architectural and cultural landmark that will attract people from across the world.
