IIIT Delhi hosts summer camp for students from government schools

NEW DELHI: The Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Delhi hosts its eighth annual summer camp for students from government schools in Delhi. This summer camp will run from May 27 to June 22 at IIIT-Delhi Campus. This initiative offers a blend of education and entertainment for students from Class 6 to 8.

As per the institute, over 400 students participated from various schools across Delhi, including Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Ra.U.Ma Baal Vidyalaya, Gyan Mandir public school, GBSS school Harkesh Nagar, Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya, KC Vishwakarma public school, Jay Hind public school, Baal Vaishali public school.

The summer camp offered a wide range of workshops, activities, and interactive. These included theatre, arts and crafts, athletics, Abacus to AI, AstroGeo, and Experimental Sciences. Through these interactive activities, students will sharpen their critical thinking, public speaking, and teamwork abilities, setting them up for success in whatever they pursue, the institute said.

Empowering girls in STEM

A key addition to the programme this year is the TLF camp for girls of Class 9 to 12. The TLF camp provides academic support, mentorship, and personal development focused on empowering girls in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) fields.

Working hand-in-hand with IIIT-Delhi's academic department and the Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL), the TLF Camp creates an immersive learning experience specifically for girls.

“Through interactive sessions and workshops led by dedicated female volunteers, students will receive guidance in subjects like general knowledge, English language, mathematics, physics, and the Mental Ability Test (MAT). Students will have the opportunity to delve into fields like computer science, robotics, and Entrepreneurship Mindset Curriculum (EMC), along with engaging in fun zone and club-related activities,” the official press release reads.

The guest of honour for this year’s inauguration ceremony was the founder of Super 30, Anand Kumar. He officially commenced the camp and addressed the participating elementary students.
