IIM Udaipur exits CAP; announces independent admission for MBA batch 2026-28

By conducting its own admission process for MBA programmes, the institute said it will be able to frame its own guidelines or parameters in line with the IIMU’s academic priorities and global outlook.
Ahead of the CAT 2025 examination, scheduled for November 30, the Indian Institute of Management Udaipur (IIM Udaipur) has announced its decision to exit from the Common Admission Process (CAP) for admitting students for its two-year MBA programme. Instead, the institute will conduct its own admission process.
The transition in the admission process will take effect from the 2026-28 batch, according to the official statement.

Vijayta Doshi, dean (programs), IIM Udaipur, said: "In just over a decade, IIM Udaipur has built a strong national and international reputation. As we progress towards our goal of becoming a globally recognized management school , it is imperative that our admissions process mirrors our academic priorities and aspirations."

'Applicant-focused' admission process
The institute, in its official statement, said that the self-conducting admission process will incorporate institute-specific criteria that will display IIMU’s distinct strengths and values.
“The new admission process will offer a seamless and applicant-focused admissions experience,” the statement reads. Those who have registered for the CAT 2025 will be shortlisted for IIM Udaipur’s personal interview, written ability test (WAT) on the basis of institute’s shortlisting.
“These processes will be conducted across key Indian cities and at the IIM Udaipur campus, ensuring accessibility for candidates nationwide,” it added.
In addition, IIM Kozhikode has extended the CAT 2025 registrations to September 20. The institute will conduct the computer-based test for admission to MBA and other management programmes on November 30 in three sessions.
Candidates seeking admission to MBA at IIMs, including other top management colleges can still register for the CAT 2025 through the official website at iimcat.ac.in.
