IISER Bhopal opens registration for PhD admissions January 2027; apply by Oct 12

IISER Bhopal PhD Admissions 2027: Candidates must have more than 60% marks or CGPA 7.0 on a 10-point scale in the qualifying degree (MSc or BTech).
The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Bhopal (IISER) has opened applications for admission to its PhD programme in Physics for the January 2027 semester. Eligible candidates can apply for the PhD courses through the official website at phy.liserb.ac.in/research.
The IISER Bhopal will close the admission portal for PhD admissions on October 12, 2026.
As per the eligibility criteria, candidates must have more than 60% marks or CGPA 7.0 on a 10-point scale in the qualifying degree (MSc or BTech).

A relaxation of 10% (5%) of marks, or equivalent grade, will be allowed for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Persons with Disability (PwD), Other Backward Classes (OBC)- Non Creamy layer (NCL), Economically Weaker Section (EWS) categories.
Those who have CSIR-UGC JRF, NET (LS), GATE, JEST certificates are also eligible to apply for PhD admissions.
Candidates should hold a DST-INSPIRE PhD fellowship degree and possess a provisional selection letter for PhD fellowship at the time of interview.
Recently, IIT Madras opened its PhD and MS research courses for January 2027 academic cycle. Similarly, Ahmedabad University and IIT Gandhinagar have also opened their PhD admissions.
Notably, the IISER Bhopal recently converted its BS-MS degree into a five year BTech-MTech programme citing placements.
