IIT Bombay launches five-month certificate course in strategic project management for working professionals

The five-month blended programme is designed for mid to senior-level professionals, including project managers, functional leaders, and individuals in complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives.
The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) has launched a certificate programme in strategic project management for working professionals. Eligible individuals can apply for the certificate programme through the official website at iitb.ac.in.
The five-month blended programme is designed for mid to senior-level professionals , including project and programme managers, functional leaders, and individuals involved in complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives, PTI reported.
The course, launched in partnership with Simplilearn, is also designed for experienced professionals to boost their ability to align project execution with organisational strategy, it said.

IIT Bombay Online Certificate Course: Curriculum
Priyank Sinha, professor from IIT Bombay , said: "As project environments evolve, there is a need for professionals to engage more deeply with strategic and financial considerations alongside execution. This programme is designed to support that shift."
The course is equipped with live online sessions and self-paced modules. Its curriculum is developed by IIT Bombay faculty, with an emphasis on application-oriented learning across areas such as cost estimation, financial governance, and schedule optimisation, PTI added.
Individuals who will complete the programme will receive a certificate from the technology institute.
Kashyap Dalal, co-founder and COO, Simplilearn, said, "This programme reflects the evolving expectations from project leaders, where strategic alignment, financial awareness, and the use of data are becoming increasingly important. We are pleased to support the delivery of this programme in collaboration with IIT Bombay."
The online certificate programme focuses on training participants with capabilities in project management, including financial evaluation, risk assessment, and strategic planning with project ecosystems, the PTI said in its report.
