IIT Bombay: Alumni can now choose a name for their hostel room, the name will be valid for 15 years.

NEW DELHI: Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) has recently announced an opportunity for alumni to name a hostel room on campus after themselves or their loved ones. IIT Bombay alumni can now choose a name for their hostel room by donating Rs 7 Lakhs ($10K) and avail 100% tax exemption under 80G. The name will be valid for 15 years.
This initiative is a part of the fundraising campaign, 'Go IIT Bombay'. The funds collected will be used for the construction of new hostels and the upkeep of existing hostels. Students can set up a monthly payment that will be withdrawn automatically, or they can make a pledge and pay it in instalments. Interested students can donate on the official website, acr.iitbombay.org.
The official website read, "Your hostel room was your home away from home and it was where you met your best friends and built relationships that would last a lifetime. How would you like to leave a mark on that one place that meant so much to you? Name Your Hostel Room is a way for you to leave your legacy on your cherished Institute by renaming the hostel room where you lived. You have the option to name it after yourself, or a loved one."

IIT Bombay celebrated its 62nd convocation in February 2024. The institute conferred degrees on 325 students at the interim session of the 62nd convocation ceremony. At the event, 325 students received degrees, including 209 PhD students.
The event's Chief Guest was Satish K Tripathi from the University of Buffalo, State University of New York. The ceremony was presided over by IIT Bombay's chairman of the Board of Governors, Sharad Kumar Saraf, and the degrees were awarded by director Subhasis Chaudhuri.
The Chairman of the Board of Governors, IIT Bombay Sharad Kumar Saraf, in his address encouraged the graduates to give back to their alma mater and society.
