NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi - Abu Dhabi (IITD-AD) is inviting admission to the second batch of undergraduate programmes for academic year 2025-26. The initiative aims to offer education opportunities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and beyond and foster education in engineering and technology.

The collaboration between IIT Delhi-Abu Dhabi represents two governments offering an improved environment for students, faculty, and researchers across the globe. As the only overseas campus of IIT Delhi, the campus in Abu Dhabi aims to cultivate an educational ecosystem that bridges cultures and promotes innovation, the official IIT Delhi statement said.

For the admissions starting for the academic year 2025-26 in August 2025 IIT Delhi Abu Dhabi will offer three BTech programmes in computer science and engineering, energy science and engineering, and chemical engineering. These four-year programmes aim to meet the needs of global technology and mould students with the skills and knowledge required to excel as leaders in their chosen fields.

Since its beginning in 2024 IIT Delhi Abu Dhabi has launched an MTech in energy transition and sustainability, two BTech programmes in computer science and engineering, and energy engineering, respectively, and a PhD programme in energy and sustainability, the IIT Delhi statement added.

IIT Delhi-Abu Dhabi: Admission process, other requirements

According to IIT Delhi-Abu Dhabi's official statement, admission will be done through two primary modes, that is, JEE (Advanced) 2025, and Combined Admission Entrance Test (CAET) 2025. CAET 2025 will be held in two sessions, the first session on February 16, 2025 and the second session on April 13, 2025. The higher score from the two sessions will be considered for the final selection process.

The exam will be conducted in a paper-based mode in English, comprising 60 questions equally distributed among physics, chemistry, and mathematics with a given exam duration of three hours. The exam centres for CAET 2025 will be located in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah in the UAE, as well as in New Delhi in India. Additional exam centres may be made available in different cities and countries for session 2, depending on received applications.

The admissions process aims to foster diversity by offering one-third of the total seat allocation through JEE (Advanced) 2025 and two-thirds of the seat allocation through CAET 2025. The CAET 2025 seats are available for UAE nationals and international students (including Indian expatriates who have completed high school and previous five years of education in UAE).

The IIT Delhi Abu Dhabi accepts applicants from around the world to join the international community on campus.

As per the official IIT Delhi Abu Dhabi statement, candidates have the flexibility to apply for either session one or both sessions and a higher score being considered for those appearing in both exams. A portion of the seats will be allocated to the top performers in CAET session 1, as “early admission”. The final seat allocation will be made based on the combined merit list and the candidates’ preference of disciplines, after the session 2 exam.
