IIT Delhi Abu Dhabi campus will be ready by January 2024; to have blend of Indian, UAE admission process
IIT Abu Dhabi Campus will offer courses in energy and sustainability, artificial intelligence, computer science and engineering, healthcare, etc.

NEW DELHI : The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi’s Abu Dhabi campus will be ready by January 2024, director Rangan Banerjee said in a press conference today. The institute has started outreach programmes for its international campus. IIT Abu Dhabi campus will offer both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Professor Shantanu Roy will be the coordinator of the new campus.
IIT Delhi Abu Dhabi will offer UG, PG, doctoral programmes in areas including energy and sustainability, artificial intelligence, computer science and engineering, healthcare, mathematics and computing, and other disciplines of engineering, sciences, management and humanities. Currently, a temporary campus has been assigned for the IIT in Abu Dhabi and the institute will move to a permanent one in due course.

“We have invited a few students from Abu Dhabi for exposure to cutting-edge areas of technology, science, and engineering,” professor Banerjee said on the outreach programmes being organised for international students.
Initially, the IIT Delhi faculty will work in the campus in Abu Dhabi, he added. The institute aims to have both Indian and international students in IIT Abu Dhabi, he said. The international campus will have a blend of the admission processes of India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

IIT Delhi will also be running some programmes for Egypt, however, no other international campus than Abu Dhabi has been planned. The professor said that they are working on the Jhajjar campus and it should be ready by 3-4 years depending on the funding.
Recently, the ministry of education and the Abu Dhabi department of education and knowledge (ADEK) signed an agreement to start the IIT Delhi campus in Abu Dhabi .
In November last year, IIT Delhi announced the setting up of an offshore campus in Abu Dhabi. The centre had asked the institute to explore the possibility of starting a campus in the United Arab Emirates.
