The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Delhi) will name the Exhibition Hall at its New Delhi campus the “Binny Bansal Exhibition Hall.” The move recognises contributions from alumnus Binny Bansal, co-founder of Flipkart.

As per the institute, Bansal made the largest-ever unrestricted individual donation to IIT Delhi through contributions to the IIT Delhi Endowment Fund. The Board for Educational and Research Planning (BERP), based on the recommendation of the naming committee, approved the proposal to name the ground floor exhibition hall in his honour.

The exhibition hall is used for academic showcases, student projects, innovation expos, and institutional events. The naming aims to recognise alumni support and encourage contributions to the Institute’s development.

According to the official press release, donations to the IIT Delhi general endowment support initiatives including scholarships for students, seed funding for research, development of innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystems, and enhancement of campus infrastructure.

“This contribution is expected to further enable IIT Delhi to create an environment where faculty and students can pursue high-impact work with global relevance,” the IIT Delhi said.
