The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has announced that it will be launching two new Masters programmes namely MSc in Economics and MSc in Cognitive Science.The Institution will begin to offer classes for these programmes by July 2020 onwards, which will fall in the Department of Humanities & Social Sciences. "The two new Masters programmes are designed uniquely to render amazing opportunities for students to learn as well as contribute constructively towards the prevalent transformation of Indian higher education.
With the commencement both of these programmes will offer 25 seats. The M.Sc coordinators; Professor Yashpal Jogdand and Professor Samar Husain were quoted saying to a National News channel, "The curriculum of the programmes is based on research which will conceptualise students with the diverse methods, tools, and theories to understand the structure and functionality of a human mind. Through the programme, students will be trained to develop the essential skills and knowledge which is required for making superior technology, information, and systems more accessible.
The motto of M.Sc. in Cognitive Science programme is of highly interdisciplinary nature, which builds methods and theories from linguistics, psychology, artificial intelligence, neuroscience, anthropology, philosophy, among others.
The motto of M.Sc. in Economics programme is to render advanced training in the field of economics with a focus on quantitative skills. The pedagogy of the programme is designed in order to offer exposure to bigger issues which are concerned with India’s developmental challenges and beyond that.
