The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has entered into a partnership with the Power Foundation of India (PFI) to establish a distinguished chair professorship focused on power sector regulation and policy. The initiative is aimed at strengthening research, teaching, and policy engagement in India’s evolving energy landscape.

The IIT Kanpur press release stated that the collaboration seeks to create a dedicated academic platform that bridges the gap between research, governance, and industry practices in the power sector. It added that by bringing together academia, policymakers, and industry stakeholders, the initiative is expected to contribute to evidence-based policymaking and innovation in regulatory frameworks.

The agreement was formalised by Anshuman Srivastava, executive director at PFI, and Raja Angamuthu of IIT Kanpur, in the presence of senior representatives from both institutions.
