IIT Kanpur starts registration for eMasters in Data Science, Business Analytics; no GATE score required

IIT Kanpur Admission 2024: The applications for the July 2024 batch will remain open till April 30. Know course structure and job prospects.
NEW DELHI: Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) has started the registration process for admission into eMasters in Data Science and Business Analytics. This degree program offers a comprehensive curriculum on data science and analytics applications in business, empowering professionals to harness the power of data for strategic decision-making, the university said.
The applications for the July 2024 batch will remain open till April 30. The eMasters degree programme is designed by the Department of Management Sciences (DoMS) allowing professionals to complete the course in 1 to 3 years. “eMaster graduates can benefit from a credit waiver mechanism while opting for other programs at IIT Kanpur,” it said. In a step to ensure accessibility for working professionals, admission to this programme does not require a Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) score. The course will carry 60-credits and a 12-module curriculum.
The programme also caters to professionals seeking flexibility by providing weekend-only live interactive sessions and self-paced learning.
Additionally, learners will also have exclusive access to the extensive resources of the IIT Kanpur placement cell, incubation center, and alumni network, enhancing career prospects and networking opportunities. It also includes campus visits and an opportunity to engage with faculty and peers.
12 million jobs by 2026
With a rapid growth in data science, professionals from diverse fields like engineering, management, business, finance, law, and public administration are advancing their careers by learning data science and business analytics, IIT Kanpur said.
It also informed that the projections indicate a remarkable surge in job openings, with an estimated 12 million positions by 2026, offering experienced professionals the potential to earn up to Rs 25 lakh. “Additionally, Naukri.com data reveals over 20,000 job listings for data science and analytics roles, underscoring the strong demand for skilled talent in this sector,” it added.
IIT-K records 1,000 enrolments in eMasters courses
Last month, the institute announced that it has achieved 1,000 enrolments in the eMasters programmes launched in 2022. Following this, it informed to start new cohorts for 10 more eMasters degrees including, data science and business analytics; next generation wireless technologies; cyber security; AI and ML; financial technology and management; business finance, public policy; climate finance and sustainability; quantitative finance and risk management; and sustainable construction practices and project management.
