IIT Kharagpur offers free online course on blockchain technology

The 12-week course on blockchain offered by IIT Kharagpur will begin on January 24, 2022. Interested candidates can, however, apply till January 31.
NEW DELHI: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur invites applications for its free online course on blockchain technology. The 12-week course will begin on January 24, 2022. Interested candidates can, however, apply till January 31.
IIT Kharagpur professors Sandip Chakraborty and Shamik Sural will be conducting the online course. Students can enrol for free but if they want the certificate, they will have to register and write the proctored exam conducted by IIT Kharagpur in person at any of the designated exam centres. Candidates have to make a payment of Rs 1000 if they wish to appear for the exam, which is optional.

The course will cover the basic design principles of Blockchain technology and its applications over different sectors. Additionally, the course also provides tutorials on setting up blockchain applications using one of the well-adopted permissionless blockchain platforms - Ethereum, and one permissioned blockchain platform - Hyperledger.

To be eligible for the certificate, candidates have to have an average assignment score of more than or equal to 10 out of 25 and the exam score should be at least 30 out of 75. If one of the two criteria is not met, students will not get the certificate even if their final score is 40 out of 100.
Certificates will have candidates’ names, photograph and score in the final exam. They will only be issued a soft copy of the certificate. It will have the logos of NPTEL and IIT Kharagpur.It will be e-verifiable at nptel.ac.in/noc.
