NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Madras) entrepreneurship cell is hosting the ninth edition of its annual entrepreneurship summit from March 7 to 10, 2024. The summit aims to promote innovation and entrepreneurship among students and young professionals. The passes for the E-Summit are available on the website at esummitiitm.org.

As per the institute, the E-Summit 2024 features over 50 speakers and 50 events spread across four conclaves including a youth conclave, an innovators’ conclave, a start-up conclave anchored by Vi business, and a start-up essentials conclave anchored by Trilegal.

The institute said that the E-Summit 2024 is the first student-run entrepreneurial gathering in India to receive International Organization for Standardization (ISO), start-up India, and United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) certifications. The summit is expecting over 15,000 attendees, including 1,000 founders, 50 investors, and students from over 400 colleges across India. The institute will also host a free-for-all start-up expo, showcasing 100 innovative start-ups to an audience of over 15,000.

Speaking about the event, the director of IIT Madras, V Kamakoti, said: “Innovation and entrepreneurship is the most important building block for Viksit Bharat at 2047. Through this summit, IIT Madras aspires to bring in several young entrepreneurs, venture capitals (VC), academia, industry and government together to march towards a technology superpower India.”

IIT Madras: Ninth bootcamp

As per the official press release, the E-Summit will feature the ninth edition of ‘Bootcamp,’ a start-up accelerator programme. The event has witnessed the participation of 500 early-stage start-ups across 4 tracks including fintech, emerging technologies, geological technologies, and sector agnostic.

The E-Summit 2024 will also introduce the seventh edition of the pan-India fundraising competition, 'Elevate,' which has attracted the participation of nearly 800 start-ups from diverse domains. 'Elevate' serves as a platform to unite start-ups with over 35 venture capital firms from across the nation, including Titan Capital, Speciale Invest, GVFL, and 100X.

Speaking about E-Summit 2024, student dean of IIT Madras, Sathyanarayana N Gummadi, said, “The Entrepreneurship Cell is an initiative spearheaded by students to share insights on entrepreneurship and encourage networking among emerging entrepreneurs. The 9th E-Summit is planned as an in-person event, providing a valuable platform for numerous students and entrepreneurs to interact and connect directly.”
