IIT Madras opens PhD, MS Research admissions for January 2027 session; apply by Oct 30

The PhD and MS research programmes are offered under engineering, science, humanities, and social science and management fields.
The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) has opened applications for admission to its PhD and MS research programmes for the January 2027 academic cycle. Eligible candidates can apply for the PhD and MS courses through the official website at iitm.ac.in.
The IIT Madras PhD and MS admission applications for January 2027 session, will be open until October 30 up to 5 pm in online mode. The engineering institute will admit candidates into its PhD and MS research programmes through a written test and an interview.
General, Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Other Backward Classes - Non Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL) male candidates should have to pay Rs 1,000 as application fee.
IIT Madras PhD, MS Admissions 2027: Registration fee
Gen, EWS, OBC-NCL transgender students should also have to pay Rs 1,000 as registration charges.
Female candidates and those belonging to Gen, EWS, OBC-NCL, Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Persons with Disability (PwD) categories must pay Rs 500 as one-time non-refundable fee.
The PhD and MS research programmes are offered under engineering, science, humanities, and social science and management fields.
Notably, the research will be held in several areas and the scholars could participate in sponsored, industrial consultancy and collaborative research projects.
In addition, IIT Madras will close the GATE 2027 registration for admission to various MTech, and PhD admissions tomorrow, October 5.
