IIT Patna starts 6 new hybrid academic programmes in computer science, business management

IIT Patna aims to create a learning opportunity for those who desire IIT education but could not make it through JEE Advanced.

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna is all set to start six unique academic programmes compliant to National Education Policy (NEP-2020) framework with focus on employable skills relevant industry demand.

It aims to create a unique learning opportunity for employability driven Cutting Edge Professional Programs for those who desire IIT education but could not make it through JEE Advanced.

“The new programmes are starting with three academic programmes in computer science stream and three in business management stream. The later course structure is aligned at par with professional body framework course structure requirement like ICAI, ICSE, CIMA, ACCA, CPA, NSE etc,” the institute said.

The 3-year undergraduate (UG) programmes in business management and its curriculum and course structure is unique and for the first time in India at IIT Patna, it added.

IIT Patna said that the programmes will be held in hybrid mode to enable the day scholars of any other programme (say BTech) with an alternative avenue to enhance their skill simultaneously without hassle.

The 3-year UG programme is designed to fulfill aspirations of school (Class 12) pass outs who have dreamt of IIT quality education but have missed the bus through JEE(Advanced). There is multiple channel for entry to these new programmes of studies, such as valid score of Joint Entrance Exam (JEE Main), Common University Entrance Test (CUET UG 2022), SAT(US), National Talent Search Exam (NTSE), Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY), INSPIRE, state level entrance and IITP-SAT.

“The motivation for starting such program lies in the rapid growth in digital technology worldwide such as; Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Machine Learning, Deep Learning and many more opening the doors with huge and diverse career opportunities. Each of the 3 year UG programs are designed to impart skill in demand by industry and employers worldwide,” the institute said in a statement.

IIT Patna: 6 new programmes

In the initial phase, the following UG hybrid programmes are open for admission.

Computer Science

BSc (Hons): Computer Science and Data Analytics (CSDA)

BSc (Hons): Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity (AICS)

BSc (Hons): Mathematics and Computer Science (MCS)

Business Management

BSc (Hons): Accounting and Financial Management (AFM)

BSc (Hons): Business Management and Analytics (BMA)

Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA)

Key features

The programme also gives the students a blend of learning and work experience through paid apprenticeship opportunity. Each programme of both the streams will have an intake of 250 students taking total intake to 1,500.

The semester fee for computer science program and management program will be Rs 40,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively.

On successful completion of the 3-year degree programme, the candidates will be awarded IITP alumni status. However, the opportunity of entry and exit scope exists at each year with an opportunity to re-enter later with a credit bank facility, it added.
