Around 200 companies registered for IIT Guwahati recruitment phase 1, offering around 250 profiles.

NEW DELHI: The first day of placements at the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati saw students getting more than 200 offers. About 38 companies participated in the IIT Guwahati recruitment drive phase 1, which is expected to continue till December 15. The placements process is being conducted in virtual mode for the second consecutive year.

Around 200 companies have registered for phase 1 of placements, recruiting for a total of around 250 profiles. Among these are 10 start-ups and three public sector undertakings (PSU). Many domestic offers were made, quantified to be above Rs 1.1 crore. Among the offers made, one was an international offer of Rs 2 crore. IIT Guwahati students have also received 179 pre-placement offers.
IIT Guwahati witnessed offers from high-profile companies like Uber and JP Morgan Chase.

The placement process started at 12 am. The final session of day one, the third, began at 6 pm and is scheduled to conclude by midnight.
“While the majority of the students sitting for the placement are back to the campus, a significant portion of students are still away from the campus”, said Abhishek Kumar, head of center for career development, IIT Guwahati.
