IIT Ropar invites application for MTech in Materials Engineering admission; apply at iitk.ac.in/coap2024

Students who have cleared GATE in 2024, 2023 and 2022 can apply for IIT Ropar’s MTech in Materials Engineering through COAP portal.

NEW DELHI: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Ropar) has invited applications for MTech in Materials Engineering programme. Candidates applying for the programmes should have cleared the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) in 2022, 2023 and 2024. Students will have to register on Common Offer and Acceptance Portal (COAP) 2024 on the official website, iitk.ac.in/coap2024, till April 25.

Students applying for MTech in Materials Engineering should have secured a BTech degree in Metallurgy, Materials, Mechanical, Mining, Production, Chemical, Biotechnology, Textile, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent discipline. Candidates with a MSc degree in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, Environmental, Nanotechnology and relevant discipline can also apply for the programmes. Those applying for the programme should have cleared GATE in paper code MT, AE,CH, ME, PH, CY, BM , BT, CE, EE , ES, EC, IN, MN , NM, PI , XE, XL and TF.

IIT graduates with BTech degree and having CGPA of 8 on a scale of 10 can apply without GATE. However, SC, ST and PwD candidates with 7.5 CGPA can apply without GATE. Students will have to pay application fees of Rs 500 while SC, ST and PwD candidates will have to submit Rs 250 as registration fee.

GATE Fellowship

Indian students admitted in IIT Ropar’s MTech in Material Engineering will be eligible for GATE fellowship. They will get Rs 12,400 annually tp to a maximum period of 24 months). Students getting the fellowship will have to assist the department for 8 hours of work per week in academic activities. Their work will include laboratory demonstration, tutorials, evaluation of assignments, test papers, seminars and research projects.
