NEW DELHI: The International Management Institute (IMI) Kolkata has been selected as a mentor institute (MI) under the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE)'s Margdarshan scheme 2023-24. The selected MBIs for IMI Kolkata are Army Institute of Management Kolkata and Globsyn Business School Kolkata.

The Margdarshan scheme identifies institutes with achievements in accreditation and ranking to guide other institutions towards similar accomplishments. IMI Kolkata, with its National Board of Accreditation (NBA) and National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranking, will serve as a guiding institute for nearby institutions termed Mentor Beneficiary Institutions (MBIs), the institute said.

As per the official press release, over a duration of three years, starting from the academic year 2024-25 onwards, IMI Kolkata will engage in a series of activities aimed at fostering growth and excellence within these institutions.

Activities under this mentorship programme include workshops on NBA accreditation and NIRF ranking, faculty research and development initiatives, placement and entrepreneurship development programmes, and the implementation of outcome-based learning systems, among others.

This initiative aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020's focus on accreditation for educational improvement. This collaboration promises mutual benefits, with IMI Kolkata contributing to societal welfare by extending support to other academic institutions, and the MBI receiving expert guidance in accreditation, ranking, and overall development without incurring any costs, the institute said.

Speaking on the occasion, the director of IMI Kolkata, Mohua Banerjee, said, "This recognition endorses our commitment to academic excellence and our dedication to fostering growth within the wider educational community."
