IIT Hyderabad: Suzuki Innovation Centre will support skill development and exchange of human resources between India and Japan

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad has signed an agreement with the Japanese company, Suzuki Motor Corporation, to launch a Suzuki Innovation Centre at IIT Hyderabad. The innovation centre will aim to create a platform for both organisations to share knowledge.

This is the first time IIT Hyderabad is launching a centre for innovation for knowledge exchange with a foreign company. The Suzuki Innovation Centre primarily aims to tackle issues related to mobility in India and Japan.

According to a statement from IIT Hyderabad, the contract between Suzuki and IIT Hyderabad is for a period of three years. “The centre will also support skill development and exchange of human resources between India and Japan," it said.

The institute believes that the Suzuki Innovation Centre will enable IIT Hyderabad to play a key role in strengthening the relationship between India and Japan.

“It is a result of cumulative success stories between Suzuki Motor Corporation and IITH over the years. The philosophy of this program is to create inclusive value for the Indian and Japanese societies. IITH will work closely with Suzuki Motor Corporation and other upcoming stakeholders to identify and address broad challenges on and beyond mobility, in India and Japan, on top of the synergistic combination of technology and design. The Centre is also a testament to the leaders we are producing at our campus. Very young and dynamic alumni of IITH: Vipul Nath Jindal and Prathyusha Thammineni, who have led the whole initiative from ground-up,” said BS Murty, director of IIT Hyderabad.
