ISRO offers two new free online courses for students and professionals; Check dates here

New Delhi: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has recently invited applications for two new fee online courses on GIS Technology and Earth Observation. Applicants are required to visit the official website of ISRO (iirs.gov.in) to register for the programmes. This course is completely free for both students and working professional candidates. Those who successfully register for the course can attend the classes between June 21 to July 2, 2021.

ISRO Free Online Course

Applicants who attend the classes will be learning the below-given topics:

• Introduction to HTML and Javascript.

• Introduction to client-server systems, Internet, and Web GIS technology.

• Web Mapping APIs: OpenLayers and Leaflet.

• OGC Web Services and Data publishing using Geoserver.

• Web GIS applications for Governance.

• Introduction of Database Management System including SQL Queries and Data visualization including PostgreSQL and PostGIS, Spatial SQL and Geo-visualization QGIS and Web.

• Hand-on Experiment on GeoserverSLD, WMS, WFS, WCS, and other Geo-web services.

• Development of Web GIS applications using Mashup architecture.

Modes to access online courses

1. To access the online classes applicants can use any web browser.

2. Candidates can attend the online course either through the IIRS e-class portal or by logging into the official YouTube channel of the institute.

All candidates who meet the 70% attendance criterion will be eligible to receive an ISRO certificate. The attendance will be marked via offline session after 24 hours of the commencement of the class.

Steps to enroll for ISRO online course

Applicants are required to first visit the official website of the ISRO portal and then fill the below give details.

• Complete name as mentioned in Class 10 certificate.

• Email address and password.

• Educational details.

After filling up the details candidates should also upload their supporting documents to complete the enrolment process.
