JAIN University to offer UG, PG scholarships to Guyanese students

NEW DELHI: JAIN Group of Institutions (JGI) announced a 1.2 million USD investment to support startups by graduates of the Guyana Online Academy of Learning (GOAL) initiative. The announcement was made on May 24 during the convocation ceremony of 1,712 students from various programmes under the GOAL initiative.

The convocation ceremony was attended by the chancellor of JAIN University, Chenraj Roychand. As per the official press release, JAIN University, in collaboration with the Guyanese government, will offer scholarships for bachelor's and master's degrees to Guyanese students through the GOAL programme.

This initiative partners with 11 universities worldwide, including JAIN, to enhance educational opportunities and entrepreneurial ventures for Guyanese students. JAIN University will also send faculty to GOAL to further support this mission. This team will work closely with learners to develop start-up ideas and will also invest in their businesses once they are established, the institute said.

Chenraj Roychand, in his keynote address, commented, "On behalf of India and JAIN University, I pledge 1.2 million USD for incubation for start-ups for the GOAL students, who want to start a business. Students can start small and grow into 10-million, 20-million, or 30-million-dollar companies. They can export ideas, products, and services in areas such as finance, accounting, technology, machine learning, artificial intelligence, supply chain, and logistics management."

"The graduates have a unique opportunity to use their knowledge to enhance their careers and become business leaders. The world today is talking about knowledge application and how individuals can export their thoughts and ideas into lucrative ventures," Roychand further added.
