NEW DELHI: Mohammad Luqman Ali, a first year student of Masters of Social Work (MSW) at Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) University in Delhi, won two bronze medals at the All India Inter University Grappling tournament. The event was organised in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.
Vice chancellor of JMI, Najma Akhtar has congratulated Luqman on the accomplishment and has wished him best of luck for the future. Luqman, upon his win, said: "My dream is to win medals for India at the international level in Olympics, world championships, commonwealth games and Asian games".
Luqman has also pursued Bachelor's of Arts in Hindi (Hons) from JMI university, before pursuing MSW. Earlier on March 28, another PhD student of JMI, Munna Khalid, had won two bronze medals at the fifth National Para Badminton championship 2022-23, organised in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Khalid holds three degrees, namely MA in Hindi, MSW and BA (Hons) in Hindi awarded to him by JMI university itself.

In another news, the Jamia Millia Islamia University has closed the registrations for JMI school admission 2023 on April 13, 2023. The university also plans to offer dual degrees, online learning and a four year undergraduate programme from the next year onwards. Registrations for admissions into engineering courses in the university have ended and the test is about to be held soon.
