Don't Miss: JEE Seat Matrix
There were five rounds of JoSAA counselling in 2024. At the end of the fifth round, three of the oldest five IITs - IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi and IIT Madras - had cut-off marks within the top 1000 JEE Advanced ranks, for seats earmarked for women. At IIT Kanpur and IIT Kharagpur, the BTech CSE cut-offs for women were below 1000 but above 2000. IITs decided on a 20% supernumerary quota for women in 2017.
The data from JoSAA shows that the cut-offs for women is significantly lower than those going for “gender-neutral” open seats. At IIT Bombay, the cut-off rank for BTech Computer Science Engineering – the rank at which admission closed in the general category – was 68. BTech CSE is one of the most sought-after programmes in the IITs, often drawing JEE Advanced toppers.
JoSAA conducts counselling for admissions at the IITs, National Institutes of Technology (NIT), IIEST, and Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTI)
