JEE Advanced 2025 Eligibility: Number of attempts back to 2; JAB restores criteria

NEW DELHI: The Joint Admission Board (JAB) has restored the previous Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2025 eligibility criteria and reduced the number of attempts to two. The board earlier increased the number of attempts to three in a major rehaul. However, the JEE Advanced 3rd attempt has been dropped after taking competing requirements in consideration.

“The Joint Admission Board (JAB) has decided to restore the earlier eligibility criterion used in previous years pertaining to number of attempts in JEE (Advanced), in supersession of the criterion mentioned in Press Release dated November 05, 2024. This has been done after considering various competing requirements in the meeting of JAB held on November 15, 2024. This has resulted in restoring the earlier eligibility criteria followed since 2013. All other eligibility criteria remain the same,” reads the latest update.

JEE Advanced 2025 exam date and information bulletin will be announced soon on the official website, jeeadv.ac.in. As per the admission board, the other details in JEE Advanced 2025 eligibility remain the same including the performance of candidates in JEE Main 2025, age limit, appearance in Class 12, and admission at IITs. Students can check the JEE Advanced 2025 eligibility for Indian and foreign nationals on the official website.

JEE Advanced 2025: Age limit, syllabus

As per the age limit required for JEE Advanced 2025, candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 2000. A relaxation of five years has been provided to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) candidates. Thus, these candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 1995.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) has also announced JEE Advanced syllabus 2025 at jeeadv.ac.in. The syllabus for JEE Advanced 2025 remains the same as JEE Advanced exam last year, the institute said.
