NEW DELHI: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued an important notice for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2023 candidates from Tamil Nadu that passed their class 10 examination in 2021. Candidates can check the official notice on NTA JEE official website- jeemain.nta.ac.in.

As per the official notice, NTA has allowed Tamil Nadu students that passed their class 10 examination in 2021 to apply and appear for the JEE Main 2023 examination. The agency received representations from candidates that due to the covid-19 outbreak, no examinations were conducted for the 2021 batch of class 10 students and therefore, no marks were given in the class 10 board exam marksheet.

The agency has decided that for such students the options of ‘passing year’ and ‘school board’ will be disabled and the associated fields for marks and CGPA will be invisible. "Those candidates who have already filled the application form, with passing year as 2021, school board as Tamil Nadu State Board of School Examination (Sec.) and paid the fee, the same rule will be applied i.e. field Result Mode will be disabled and fields Total Marks, Obtained Marks, Percentage of Marks will remain invisible in application form" further read the official NTA JEE Main 2023 notification.
This decision can after multiple students raised concerns regarding their JEE Main application. The students from the 2021 class 10 batch did not have specific marks in their Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) while JEE Main 2023 application previously required candidates to provide their Class-10 marks in the application form for the entrance test.
Zion Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Tambaram, senior principal, N Vijayan on Thursday said: "The school education department has requested the NTA to enable the Tamil Nadu students to fill the application without the Class X mark details considering the pandemic situation. NTA officials have assured that the issue would be resolved soon. So, the aspirants need not panic and prepare for the exam."
The JEE Main application forms 2023 are open from December 15 to January 12, 2023. NTA will be releasing the JEE Main 2023 admit card in the third week of January 2023, while the JEE Main 2023 session 1 exam dates are- January 24, 25, 27, 28, 29, 30, and 31, 2023.
