How to fill JEE Main 2025 application form? NTA issues guidelines, step-by-step instructions

NEW DELHI: The national-level engineering entrance exam, JEE Main 2025, for admission into BE, BTech at IITs, NITs, and other institutes will be held in two sessions in January and April. The National Testing Agency (NTA) hosted the JEE Main registration link and uploaded the notification on the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in, on October 28. The JEE Main 2025 session 1 exams will commence from January 22 and will conclude on January 31 and session 2 exams will begin from April 1 to 8, as per the NTA exam calendar 2025.
Unlike this year, it is not mandatory for applicants to create the JEE Main account using Digi locker through the NAD portal, Academic Bank of Credits ID (ABC ID), Indian passport number, non-Indian passport number, PAN card number, or Aadhaar number. Students will have to provide personal and basic information to register.
“A candidate can apply for Session 1 and pay the examination fee accordingly in the given duration. If a candidate wishes to apply for Session 2, he/she has to apply again when the window will be reopened after the conduct of Session 1 and pay the Examination Fee during that period. Multiple Application Forms submitted by a candidate for the same Session(s) will not be accepted at any stage,” the NTA clarified.

JEE Main 2025: Guidelines to fill application form
Candidature of those who submitted multiple applications will be cancelled and their results will not be declared.
- The NTA has started the registration process for session 1 alone. The application form for session 2 will be made available separately. As per the JEE Mains notification, the registration for April session will begin from January 31.
- If a candidate wishes to register only for session 2, they will have to apply when the form is uploaded on the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in.
- The registration fee can be submitted only online through net banking, credit card, debit card, or UPI services. Processing charges and GST as applicable are chargeable from the candidate.
- The confirmation page of the online application form for each session will be generated only after the successful payment of the fee by the applicant.
JEE Mains 2025: How to create password?
The NTA advised candidates to create a password that is 8 to 13 characters long. They are required to choose a security question and its answer; which will be used to retrieve the password in future. The password should be created as per the following policy
- Should be 8 to 13 characters long.
- Should have at least one upper case alphabet.
- Should have at least one lower case alphabet.
- Should have at least one numeric value.
- Should have at least one special character eg.!@#$%^&*-.

JEE Main 2025: Documents, format
Candidates will have to upload scanned images of candidate’s photograph, signature, Class 10 or equivalent pass certificate, caste certificate, and PwD certificate if applicable.
Photograph - A recent passport-size coloured photograph with 80% face visible including ears against a white background should be uploaded while filling the JEE form. The file should be named ‘Photograph’ and should be uploaded in JPG/JPEG format between 10 kb to 300 kb.
Signature - The file should be named as 'Signature' and should be uploaded in JPG/JPEG format with file size between 10 kb to 50 kb.
Scanned copy of Class 10 mark sheet or pass certificate of the qualifying exam should be named as ‘Class-X Certificate’ and should be uploaded in PDF format with a file size between 10 kb to 300 kb.
Scanned copy of the PwD/ PwBD certificate should be named as 'Disability Certificate' and uploaded in a PDF format between 10 kb to 300 kb.
