NEW DELHI: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has commenced the Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE Main 2025) registration process on October 25. The JEE Mains registration link 2025 is active on the new official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in. As per the schedule, candidates will be able to register for JEE Main 2025 session 1 till November 22, 2024.

The NTA has also announced the schedule for both JEE Mains 2025 sessions. Several changes, including removal of optional questions, revision of tie-breaking rule, and total attempt have been introduced.
The IIT JEE Main 2025 exam will be held in two sessions for admission into BE, BTech programmes at Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and other participating colleges.
As per the JEE Mains 2025 notification, the session 1 exam for paper 1 will be held between January 22 and January 31, and session 2 will be held from April 1 to 8 tentatively. The NTA further clarified that the tentative dates have been announced to ensure that the JEE Main exam date 2025 does not interfere with the Class 12 board exam 2025 dates.
Aspirants should note that the JEE Mains paper 2A and paper 2B for BArch and BPlanning are also being held twice a year - January and April 2025.

The JEE Mains 2025 marking scheme is as follows:
Four marks for each correct answer.
No negative marking.

As per the latest NTA schedule, the JEE Main 2025 exam will be conducted between January 22 to January 31.
JEE Main 2025 session 1 for paper 1 (BE / BTech) will be held between January 22 and January 31, 2025 and Session 2 will be held between 1 April and April 8, 2025 tentatively. The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) has launched a new initiative, the Self Assessment Test and Help for Entrance Exams (SATHEE) scheme, aimed at helping students prepare for competitive exams like JEE Mains 2025, NEET UG 2025, and government services (SSC) free of cost.

Candidates with benchmark disabilities, including blindness, locomotor disability (affecting both arms), and cerebral palsy, may request assistance from a scribe, reader, or lab assistant. For candidates with other benchmark disabilities, such support requires a certificate from the chief medical officer, civil surgeon, or medical superintendent of a government healthcare institution, confirming the need for a scribe.

As per the age limit criteria, there is no age restriction for candidates appearing in JEE Main 2025. Candidates who have passed their Class 12 or equivalent examination in 2023, 2024, or are appearing in 2025 are eligible to take the JEE Main 2025 exam, regardless of age.

NTA has released the JEE Main exam date 2025 on the website, jeemain.nta.ic.in. JEE Mains session 1 will be held from January 22 to 31, while JEE April session is scheduled from April 1 to 8, 2025.
NTA commenced the JEE Mains 2025 registration for session 1 on October 28, 2024.

Candidates will have to upload scanned images of the candidate’s photograph, signature, Class 10 or equivalent pass certificate, caste certificate, and PwD certificate if applicable.
Photograph - A recent passport-size colored photograph with 80% face visible including ears against a white background should be uploaded while filling out the JEE form. The file should be named ‘Photograph’ and should be uploaded in JPG/JPEG format between 10 kb to 300 kb.
Signature - The file should be named as 'Signature' and should be uploaded in JPG/JPEG format with file size between 10 kb to 50 kb.
Scanned copy of Class 10 mark sheet or pass certificate of the qualifying exam should be named as ‘Class-X Certificate’ and should be uploaded in PDF format with a file size between 10 kb to 300 kb.
Scanned copy of the PwD/ PwBD certificate should be named as 'Disability Certificate' and uploaded in a PDF format between 10 kb to 300 kb.
According to the official schedule, the JEE Main 2025 Session 1 is tentatively set to take place on January 22, while Session 2 is likely to be held between April 1 and 15.
The NTA has opened the registration window for JEE Main 2025 and eligible candidates can fill out the application form by November 22 on the JEE new official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in.
In the event of a tie between candidates with the same total NTA score, the following criteria will be used to resolve it, in order:
Higher NTA score in Mathematics
Higher NTA score in Physics
Higher NTA score in Chemistry
Lower ratio of attempted incorrect answers to correct answers across all subjects in the test
Lower ratio of attempted incorrect answers to correct answers in Mathematics

If a tie still persists, candidates will be awarded the same rank.
The exam cities that have been added this year include Bahrain, Indonesia, Kuwait, Malaysia, Germany, Nigeria, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, UAE - Abu Dhabi, UAE - Sharjah, and Washington DC.
NTA has advised candidates to create a password at least 8 to 13 characters long. Candidates must choose a security question used to retrieve the password in the future. As per the NTA notification, the password should be created as per the following policy:

Candidates who have qualified for Class 12 board exams in the years 2023, and 2024 or appearing in 2025 are eligible to apply for JEE Mains 2025. However, the candidate may be required to meet the JEE eligibility criteria of the institute to which they are taking admission.
The NTA has announced the JEE Main schedule 2025 for both session 1 January and session 2 April exams for admission into engineering programmes.
Candidates can apply for JEE Mains 2025 session 1 and session 2 through the “Online” mode only. The application form in any other mode will not be accepted.
The JEE Main 2025 will be conducted in two sessions for admissions in the next academic session.
If a candidate submits multiple application forms their application form will not be accepted and lead to the cancellation JEE 2025 result.

The syllabus for JEE Main 2025 includes important topics of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics of NCERT Class 11 and 12.
As per the latest NTA guidelines for the JEE Mains 2025 exam, during, before, or after the examination if a candidate indulges in any unfair practice during the exam, the candidate shall be deemed to have used unfair practices and booked under the UNFAIR MEANS (U.F.M.) case. Moreover, the candidate may be debarred for 3 years in the future and shall also be liable for criminal action and /or any other action as deemed fit.
Candidates can apply for JEE Main 2025 session 1 and session 2 through the “Online” mode only. The application form in any other mode will not be accepted.
The reservation criteria for JEE Mains 2025 are as follows:
General category belonging to Economically Weaker Section (GEN- EWS) – 10% of seats in every course.
Other Backward Classes belonging to the Non-Creamy Layer (OBC- NCL) – 27% of seats in every course.
Scheduled Caste (SC) – 15% of seats in every course. 4. Scheduled Tribe (ST) – 7.5% of seats in every course.
Persons with Disability/ Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwD, PwBD) – 5% seats in each of the General, GEN-EWS, OBC- NCL, SC and ST category seats.
For appearing in the JEE Mains 2025, there is no age limit for the candidates. The candidates who have passed the Class 12 examination in 2023, 2024 or appearing in 2025 irrespective of their age can appear for the examination.
However, the candidates may be required to fulfill the age criteria of the Institute(s) to which they are desirous of taking admission.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has informed that the ABC ID, DigiLocker, Aadhaar card number is not mandatory to create an account for JEE Main 2025 exam. For the JEE 2024 exam, the testing agency allowed creating an account using Digi locker account through the NAD portal, Academic Bank of Credits ID (ABC ID) through the ABC ID, Indian passport number, non-Indian passport number, PAN card number, or Aadhaar.
Candidates will be allowed to appear for both JEE Main paper 1 and paper 2. However, they will have to pay an additional fee. Students can choose paper 1 BE, BTech and paper 2A BArch; paper 1 and paper 2B BPlanning; paper 1 and paper 2A BArch and paper 2B; Or paper 2A BArch and paper 2B BPlanning.
