The National Testing Agency (NTA) has closed the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2026 registration window. NTA will start the JEE Main 2026 application correction facility from December 1.

Candidates who have registered will be able to edit or rectify their details in the JEE Mains form 2026 on December 1 and 2.

NTA will start the JEE Main 2026 application correction facility from December 1. Registered candidates will be able to edit or rectify their details in the JEE Mains form 2026 on December 1 and 2.

Even if JEE Main 2026 exam dates clash with any other exam, NTA will not change the allotted date or shift for the candidates, the testing agency clarified while answering the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs). Also, students will not be allowed to use calculators during the JEE Mains exam 2026.

NTA will conduct the JEE Main session 1 exam 2026 from January 21 to 30 for admissions to undergraduate engineering and architecture programmes in the National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and more.

How to apply for JEE Main 2026?

Here are the steps to fill the JEE Main application form 2026:

  • Visit the official website at jeemain.nta.nic.in.
  • Click on the “Registration for JEE(Main)-2026 Session-1” under candidate activity on the home page.
  • Enter basic details such as name, date of birth, email ID, and mobile number.
  • Verify your email ID and mobile number through the OTP.
  • Log in using the generated credentials to fill in the application form.
  • Provide personal, academic, and other information
  • Upload scanned documents, including photograph, signature, and other certificates, as per specifications.
  • Pay the application fee, review the application form and submit it.
  • Download the confirmation page.

JEE Main Registration Date 2026: IIT Kanpur launches free course

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, under its SATHEE initiative, has launched a free 40-day online crash course for JEE Main 2026 preparation starting November 1. 

The course offers live and recorded sessions by IITians, daily practice problems, chapter-wise tests, mock test series, AI-based performance tracking, and doubt-clearing support from 10 AM to 6 PM. All resources, including mentorship and performance reports, are available free through the SATHEE portal and mobile app.

JEE Mains 2026: Can I use calculator, student asks

NTA has reiterated that calculators in any form will not be allowed in the JEE Main exam. The clarification follows a typographical error in the information bulletin. Candidates will have to attempt numerical and calculation-based questions without using any manual or onscreen calculator.

JEE Main 2026: FAQs on exam dates

As per the NTA’s latest update, candidates will be able to make changes to their JEE Mains 2026 session 1 application form from December 1 to 2.

NTA will conduct the JEE Main session 1 exam 2026 from January 21 to 30, whereas the session 1 exam will be held from April 2 and 9. Candidates can apply for NTA JEE Main 2026 on the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in.

FAQs

Answers

Can candidates correct or change their particulars, including the city of the exam centre, in the online application form?

NTA will not be responsible for any incorrect details in the application form. NTA will provide a one-time correction facility for selected fields will be provided.

Can candidates appear in only 1 session, or do they have to appear in both sessions?

Candidates can appear in both sessions if they wish. If candidates appear in both sessions, the best of their JEE Main 2026 NTA scores will be considered for the preparation of the merit list and ranking.

Do candidates have to fill a separate application form for each session?

Yes, candidates will have to apply for each session. The application date for session 1 will be announced later.

Will calculators be allowed during the exam?

The use of calculators in any form is not permitted in the JEE Main exam.

If a candidate does not receive an admit card, whom should the candidate contact

Candidates are informed that Admit Cards will not be sent by post. They must download their admit card from the NTA official website once a public notice announcing its availability is issued.

Can a candidate change the exam city or centre after the allotment?

The allotted examination Centre cannot be changed, in any case.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will open the JEE Mains 2026 correction facility from December 1. Candidates will be given only one chance to make corrections to their JEE Mains 2026 application form . 

The particulars in the application form that will be allowed to change includes candidates’ or father’s or mother’s name, class 10 and 12 details, state code of eligibility, medium of the examination, date of birth, gender, category, sub-category or PwD, signature and Aadhaar details. IIT JEE Form: State code of eligibility

JEE Main 2026 information bulletin states that if a candidate has passed Class 12 exam from one state but appeared for improvement from another, the state code of eligibility will be from where the candidate first passed the qualifying exam and not from where they appeared for improvement.

Those who have passed Class 12 or appearing for the exam from the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) have to select the state of eligibility according to the state in which the study centre is located. For Indian nationals passing the Class 12 exam from Nepal or Bhutan, the eligibility will be determined based on a permanent address in India as given in the passport of the candidate.

JEE Main 2026: List of qualifying exams

  • Class 12 board exam conducted by any recognized central or state educational board, such as the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) etc.
  • Intermediate or two-year Pre-University exam (PUC) conducted by a recognized board or university.
  • Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defense Academy
  • Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) with a minimum of five subjects.
  • Any public school, board, or university exam in India or any foreign country is recognized as equivalent to the Class 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
  • Higher Secondary Certificate Vocational Examination.
  • A diploma recognized by AICTE or a state board of technical education of at least 3 years duration.
  • General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London, Cambridge, or Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
  • High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.
  • Candidates who have completed the Class 12 or equivalent exam outside India or from a Board not specified above should produce a certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) to the effect that the examination they have passed is equivalent to the Class 12 Examination.
  • Candidates should have passed at one public exam either Class 12 board exam or pre-university exam.
