NEW DELHI: The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment had begun applications for a free coaching scheme meant to help candidates from marginalised communities crack exams like the engineering, medical and law entrance exams -- JEE Main, NEET and CLAT -- and recruitment exams. The MSJE's “Free coaching scheme for SC and OBC students mode 2” scholarship scheme is for students belonging to the Scheduled Castes (SC) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) categories and is receiving applications for the 2021-22 academic session. These students can apply now with the official portal being open.

All students of SC and OBC category, whose family income is less than Rs 8 lakhs per annum can apply for under the scheme. The last date to apply for free coaching for competitive exams under this scheme is on September 10.
As per the official website: “The Free Coaching Scheme of the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India supports coaching of good quality for economically disadvantaged Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Other Backward Classes (OBCs) candidates to enable them to appear in competitive examinations and/or succeed in obtaining an appropriate job in Public/Private Sector.”

Coaching Fee (actual or prescribed coaching fee under the scheme, whichever is less)
A stipend of Rs. 6,000 and Rs 3,000 per month will be given to outstation and local students respectively.
A provision to give special allowance of Rs. 2,000 monthly has been made for disabled students.
