Jharkhand to launch chief minister fellowship for PhD, other degrees in world’s top 100 universities
Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren felicitated 25 scholars selected under the scholarship schemes to study in the UK.
NEW DELHI: Jharkhand government is going to launch a Chief Minister Fellowship programme for students, state CM Hemant Soren announced. Under the fellowship scheme, students will get financial aid to pursue higher studies including PhD in top 100 universities across the world.
CM Soren was attending the felicitation programme of 25 scholars selected under the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda Overseas Scholarship and Chevening Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda Scholarship for the academic year 2023-24. The event was attended by the British High Commission and state education department officials. Currently, the state offers these two scholarships for students to pursue higher studies in the UK.
“The state government is soon coming up with the Chief Minister Fellowship Program scheme for the promising youth of the state. Under which financial assistance will be given for other studies including PhD in the top 100 universities of the world,” CM said in a tweet.

“Schemes are being run by our government at every level for the youth of Jharkhand. If the hardworking youth of the state move forward, then the state will move forward. I am engaged in every effort to strengthen the foundation of the state,” the chief minister added.
Soren went on to say that the government is not only helping students with their studies but will also cooperate with them if they want to play a part in the development of the state.
Talking about the students selected under the two scholarships, he said, “today once again the dreams of the talented youth of the deprived society of Jharkhand are coming true. I extend my best wishes to all the selected youths, parents, officials of the department and the officials of the British High Commission present in the programme.”
While the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda Overseas Scholarship is for SC, ST, minority, and other backward classes students to pursue masters programmes in the United Kingdom (UK) and northern Ireland.
Under the Chevening Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda Scholarship, Jharkhand has partnered with the foreign, commonwealth and development office, UK to provide for up to 5 students to pursue a one-year year master’s degree programme in the UK.
