The Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC), Ranchi will close the registration process for the Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test (JTET) 2026 today, June 2, 2026. Candidates can fill out the forms through the official JTET portal at jactetonline.com. Earlier, the last date to submit the online applications was May 21, 2026.
To qualify JTET 2026, candidates from the General and EWS categories must secure at least 60 per cent marks. The qualifying threshold has been fixed at 55 per cent for BC-1 and BC-2 candidates, while SC, ST, PVTG and Divyang candidates need a minimum of 52 per cent marks. In addition, the JAC has provided a one-time relaxation in the upper age limit to account for the interval between consecutive JTET examination cycles.
The JTET 2026 question papers will comprise multiple-choice questions (MCQs), and candidates will not be penalised for incorrect answers. Both Level 1 and Level 2 tests will be conducted in Hindi and English, with each paper carrying 150 marks. Candidates will be allotted two hours and 30 minutes to complete the examination.
To fill out the JTET 2026 registration form, aspirants must follow the steps given below:
The examination fee depends on both the candidate's category and the number of papers chosen. Applicants belonging to the General, EWS, BC-1 and BC-2 categories must pay Rs 1,300 for either Paper 1 or Paper 2, while those opting for both papers are required to pay Rs 1,500. The fee for SC and ST candidates is Rs 700 for a single paper and Rs 800 for both papers. Candidates from the PVTG category need to pay Rs 500 for one paper and Rs 600 for both, whereas Divyang applicants are charged Rs 700 and Rs 800 respectively.
JTET 2026 is a state-level eligibility examination conducted to determine candidates' eligibility for teaching positions in Primary (Classes 1 to 5) and Upper Primary (Classes 6 to 8) schools across Jharkhand. The examination will be held in offline mode using OMR sheets on June 14, 2026. The JAC has clarified that JTET is only a qualifying examination and qualifying it does not guarantee appointment to teaching posts.
