NEW DELHI: The students of Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) are protesting against the administration and demanding justice for Sachin Kumar Jain, a PhD student who recently died.
“Protest against the administration of IIT Madras demanding #justiceForSachinJain happening now. The administration has not implemented any structural changes against harassment of students by faculties. Students have demanded the resignation of Sachin's guide and Dean,” the Ambedkar, Periyar, Phule study circle (APPSC) of IIT Bombay said in a tweet.

ChintaBar, a student body recognised by IIT Madras, on April 8 requested the IIT Madras to investigate all the aspects of allegations raised by the student’s brother.
“Sachin had a meeting with the guide on 31st morning, after which he went to his room and put a status on WhatsApp which says ‘I am sorry, not good enough’. Later in the afternoon he was found dead,” ChintaBar quoted Sachin’s brother.
Sachin's death is third in a month at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras). After a 18-year-old student Darshan Solanki died, IIT Bombay also faced a barrage of criticism over the prevailing caste discrimination on campus.
Correction: An earlier version of the copy erroneously said the protest was at IIT Bombay. It was at IIT Madras. The error is regretted.
